License Upgrades

If you need to increase the number of users for a Desktop License or to expand the web-traffic setting for a Web License, you can do so from your Optimo account, under the Orders section. You will be redirected to the cart and be able to upgrade your license according to your needs. The amount of your previous order will be deducted from the price of the licence upgrade.

Discounts

Optimo does not offer discounts to students, individuals, or organizations. Instead, we have developed equitable pricing, including lower prices for families, packages, and added styles. Nonetheless, we sometimes support or sponsor charitable causes and educational projects. Please contact us at info@optimo.ch for more information.

Return Policy

All purchases are final and products cannot be returned, refunded, or exchanged. Despite our firm return policy, if you have any technical issues with your purchase, we will gladly try to find a solution for you. Please contact us at info@optimo.ch for more information.

Value-Added Tax (VAT)

Since Optimo is a registered Swiss company, transactions from Swiss and Liechtensteiner customers will be charged 8.1% of the purchase price in Value-Added Tax (VAT), in addition to the purchase price. Optimo Sàrl’s Swiss VAT number is CHE-257.218.081.

Despite being exempt from value-added tax from their Optimo order, customers based in the European Union must enter their VAT number at the time of purchase. For customers outside of Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and the European Union, please note that VAT will not be added to your purchase price and that your Tax Identification Number won’t be required at the time of purchase.

Payment Options

For online purchases, Optimo accepts payments from the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. We also accept payments made with Maestro and Masterpass. Once the transaction has been completed, you will receive an email receipt with your order number. The font files will be made available for download from your account, as well as a PDF receipt for your purchase.

Additionally, we accept payments via bank transfers (direct bank-to-bank transfers). Note that this method of payment is not available through our website and usually takes a couple of days to process. Please contact us at info@optimo.ch for more information.

Payment Currency

Since Optimo is a company registered in Switzerland, all of its business activities are conducted in Swiss francs. Consequently, our quotes and invoices are prepared in this currency.

Please be aware that online currency conversion services often use different exchange rates than credit card companies. This may cause the price of your purchase to appear differently on your statement than the estimated conversion.

Licensing & Usage

Single or Multi-Location

Our standard Desktop License covers only one single location. If your company has offices in multiple locations (whether or not in the same city) and you would like to install the font at multiple locations, you will need to secure the appropriate licenses. Since laptops are suitable for mobile use, they can be added to the business location stipulated by the License.

Printer and Service Bureau

If you cannot generate PDF or Postscript files when you output your job, you may send a copy of the font to your printer or service bureau. After the job is complete, the printer or the service bureau must destroy the copy of the font that you sent them.

License Sharing

Our Desktop Licenses are not intended to be shared by multiple companies (i.e. a designer and his or her client) or with third parties. Our standard license allows for a font to be installed on five computers, all of which must be owned by the end user’s company and located in the same premises. Typically, graphic designers or agencies will buy the license (end user), not their clients. If a designer were to sell a template that requires an Optimo font, then their client would have to purchase their own license. If an agency hires a freelance graphic designer or an external contractor, for a project that uses an Optimo font, each entity has to buy a license. Web and ePub Licenses are valid for a specific project (a web domain (URL), a title, or a publication). Please keep in mind that our licenses are not transferable.

Embedding a font in a PDF

You may only embed fonts in PDF documents, if they are in a secure read-only mode, to prevent the extraction of the fonts.

Font License Definitions

A font is actually a small software and is licensed as such. A Font License must be secured in order to use a font. You must secure the appropriate license for your intended usage (desktop, web, mobile app, etc.). When you purchase a font license from Optimo, you are purchasing the rights to use the font according to our EULA (End-User License Agreement), which states the terms and conditions under which the font can be used. You do not own the font you have purchased a license for; Optimo SÀRL remains the only copyright owner. During the purchasing process, you must agree with the terms of the EULA to be able to download and use the fonts.

Logotype Creation

If you wish to create a logotype, you first need to secure a Desktop License.

Depending on the visibility of the logotype, appropriate licences are also necessary. For example, if the logotype appears on a website and in social medias, a Web Licence and a Social Media Licence are required.

In Addition, if you are planning to legally register (trademark) a logotype using an Optimo font, you will need to purchase a Trademark License. This license is an extension of the Desktop License and is available by request only. Please contact us at service@optimo.ch for more information and pricing.

Font Modification

The modification of a font for the purpose of producing new fonts is not allowed. Any manipulation to the vector outlines contained in the font software is considered a “derivative work” and is strictly forbidden. If you want to create a logotype, the modification of the shape of a letter form must be authorized by Optimo in advance. Please contact us at info@optimo.ch for approval.

Trial Font

Optimo trial fonts are available for automatic download. All you need to do is to go to the purchase options of the typeface of your choice, choose a family or a style (Step 1), and select the Trial License in the licensing options (Step 2). You will be requested to log in or create an account. The Trial License and the corresponding font files will be delivered through your user account under the “Your Orders” section. The Trial License comes with a limited character set in OTF format and is strictly limited for testing, evaluation, and pitching purposes. If you want to use the font for an external, commercial, or published project, you can directly update your Trial License through your account and purchase the appropriate license available.
